THE ABUNDANCETREK EUROPE 2004 BLOG
+ (MAY 2004) Suddenly another trip to Europe is in our future! You can follow this trip from planning to memories here. Mary has been invited to be part of the third CONGRESS ON INCONTINENCE which is directly related to her Nursing research. The congress is in Monaco June 26-29.
FRIDAY, JULY 7, 2006 + Beautiful all over the Northeast
+ I recently discovered VIRTOURIST.COM. This great website offers Florence information & photos and Geneva information and photos as well as information & photos for dozens of other cities worldwide including several cities we just visited in Spain. See my 2006 travelblog.
FRIDAY, MAY 5, 2006 + Sunny and a little chilly along the Erie Canal
+ It is now almost 2 years since we took this wonderful trip. Yesterday I uploaded a lot of Switzerland photos even as we prepare to go to Europe again at the end of this month. I also found another photographer's photo of St. Cergue in the Jura Mountains. You can keep going for a long time and see many great photos of The Jura Mountains, the Alps and Lake Geneva if you click here and choose the left arrow. You can keep going for a long time and see many great photos of Eastern France if you click here and choose the right arrow.
MONDAY, JUNE 21, 2004 + Sunny, breezy and mild.
+ We will be staying at the Hotel Gioia in Florence. Nearby is the Piazza San Lorenzo and the Basilica di San Lorenzo.
+ I just bought tickets for the famouis Uffizi Museum in Florence through firenze.net. This means we don't have to wait in the long lines we have heard about.
+ When we are in Interlaken, Switzerland, we will be staying at the Goldey Swiss Q Hotel.
+ In Geneva, we will be staying at the Hotel Bernina across from the railroad station and a 15 minute walk to Old Town.
+ Geneva continues to be a center of Christianity. It is the headquarters of the World Council of Churches and the World Alliance of Reformed Churches.
SUNDAY, JUNE 20, 2004 + Canadian High has made this day fantastic all over the Northeast USA.
+ We will be in Geneva from Wednesday morning to Saturday morning. I just found information on the old town which includes the St. Pierre Cathedral, the
base of the reformation in Geneva led by John Calvin. The Presbyterian Church and many other reformed denominations trace their heritage back to Calvin.
+ I'm gathering information on Monaco and on the Hotel Ambassador where we will be staying in Monaco. Did you know that the country of Monaco is only 3 miles long and one-half mile?
WEDNESDAY, JUNE 16, 2004 + hot but less humid than yesterday's soggy conditions in Massachusetts.
+ I'm working on our trip. Suggestions welcome! We leave home next Tuesday, June 22. We fly to Geneva overnight from JFK. The sun should be shining most of the night since we are both heading North (midnight sun) and East (earlier sunrise) on the second or third longest day of the year. During our stay in Interlaken, we may make it to Lauterbrunnen which (the Swiss say) is in the most beautiful valley in the world with Jungfrau and many other Alps peaks
nearby. Maybe we will shell out the money to go on the Jungfraujoch Railway which many dewscribe as the most beautiful railway journey in the world. I guess that's why they charge so much!

MONDAY, MAY 24, 2004 + cloudy with some thunderstorms in Western Massacusetts
+ It's May 24 and our roundtrip flight to Geneva on SwissAir has been booked since last week. We are leaving JFK on June 22 and returning July 7. On
Friday, I ordered a flexisaver EUROPASS for 5 non-consecutive days of train travel in 3 countries: Switzerland, France, Italy. We are going to Monaco, too, which is considered part of France for Europass purposes. I also made train reservations for our travel from Geneva to Monaco, Monaco to Florence and Florence to Interlaken. I have made reservations for our hotel stays in Geneva, Monaco, Florence & Interlaken.
