THE 2008 ABUNDANCETREK TRAVEL BLOG
SATURDAY, MARCH 29, 2008 + sunny and chilly after several inches of snow yesterday
+ We have now made reservations for all of our nights in Paris and for 3 nights in the Dordogne Valley (East of Bordeaux). We will take the TGV from Paris to Bordeaux on July 8 and return to Paris on July 12. We still need to book une chambre in Bordeaux for 1 night, July 8.
WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 13, 2008 + wintry mix; started as snow yesterday, turned to rain and freezing rain, then back to snow
+ Thinking about various destinations for July 8-13 such as Bordeaux, Brittany, Normandy and the Chateaux of the Loire valley.
+ I'm adding links for travel in France in the column to the Left.
MONDAY, FEBRUARY 10, 2008 + cold and windy
+ The Fourth International Consultation on Incontinence is the reason why Paris is the destination. Mary is on a special committee. We both went to Monaco in 2004 for the Third International Consultation on Incontinence.
SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 9, 2008 + snow in the early morning followed by some sunshine; then a snow squall; then getting windy and very cold with lake-effect snow predicted for tonight
+ We have decided to go! We have booked a flight to Paris on July 3 with a return trip on July 15.
EDITED 2/12/08: We will be in Paris from July 4 through July 8 and then probably from the 13th to 15th. What we will do beginning on the afternoon of July 8 through the morning of July 13 is wide open at this time. Suggestions are welcome!
One possibility is to follow some or all of the route of the Rick Steves tour: "Best of Paris and the Heart of France in 11 Days". A big attraction would be Mont St. Michel, the famous monastery on an island just off the coast of Brittany. We have packed too much in on our past trips to Europe. This time we might decide to find a couple of great destinations and stay about 3 days and 3 nights in each one.
TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 5, 2008 + cloudy and mild with some showers
+ We are planning a trip to Paris in July. Mary will be going to a meeting of the International Continence Society at the Palais des Congres which is near the Eifel Tower and the Arc de Triomphe. The Hotel Concorde la Fayette is part of the Palais des Congres complex. It's expensive. So, we are considering other hotels in the 17th arrondissement including Hotel Champerret Heliopolis, Hotel Niel and Hotel Etoile Pereire.
